Betty's Big Birthday Bash

This is our eleventh visit to Betty's since we went on the road in 2007. For several of those stays we were here to celebrate Betty's birthday, March 31st. Each year the RVers work with Betty's niece Monica to come up with a new theme and proper gifts for the hostess with the mostess. This year's theme was full Cajun with all the fixins and the gift was a celebration of "Getting Caught in Betty's Web.
That theme was very appropriate this year as "Get Caught Up In Betty's Web", Betty's RV Park is now recognized by the United States government as an official trademark.
Part of the gift was the start of a Caught in Betty's Web sign post. We got approval from Betty and John, Dan and I dug a hole for the post.
We had everyone who was in the park make a sign with their names, where they were from and how far away that is. Betty went to a wedding on Saturday so we went to work putting the signs on the post. Here are Nanc, Merlene and John putting up signs on the post.
The ladies celebrating and showing off their signs.
We wrapped it and added a bow.

On Sunday she unwrapped her present with everyone's sign. While she had an idea about what we were up to she was still surprised and happy with the results.
Here is a collage with all the first posters. Top Merlene, Dan, Nanc, Jim, Sharon, John, Charles and Sandy; middle Dick, Kathy, Sue, Dan, Dan, Susan, Steve and Penny; bottom Brenda, Cordell, Monica, Priscilla, Dave, Randy, Steve, Dawn, Dudley and Patty. We also put up signs for Dodo and Richard who passed away last year and their spouses Bernie and Lynn.
After the unveiling the party kicked off. Here is Betty with her aunts Edna, Irene and Lillian who will be 102 this weekend.
What better way to have a Cajun theme than a meal of 90 pounds of crawfish. It was real quiet while everyone was eating those wonderful mudbugs.
You can't have a real Cajun party without some music. Judy, Dave, Kristy and Joe provided the entertainment.....
......and as you can see they had the place rockin. Here are Sharon, Sue, Jim, Kathy and Dan kicking up their heels while doing their version of the Rockettes.
Nanc handed Lillian a tambourine so she could join the band. She sure knows how to have a great time.
Randy, Dan, Brenda, Dick and Sharon picked up the beat with a variety of instruments including a rub board, gourd and the spoons.
Steve, Kathy, Sue, Susan, Patty and Penny enjoying the fun with a couple toddies.
The birthday girl Betty and Judy Bailey who has performed with bands in Nashville.
Lillian was happy to give Dick a chance to try and keep up and dance with a 102 year old woman. She is still able to cut the rug and is as sharp as a tack.
Penny brought out a box of silly glasses and that sure fueled some carrying on. Some of these changed the way people looked so much they could have robbed a bank. Here are Jim, Dave, Lillian, Irene, Sandy, Charles, Sharon, Betty, Penny, Randy and Nanc.
Dan joined the band on guitar and could not resist the chance to try Kristy's Cajun squeeze box.
Everyone sure had a great time celebrating Betty's birthday with so many friends.
Some more than others:)
Charles, Jim, John and Steve toast our favorite RV park hostess in the world.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR DEAR FRIEND BETTY!!!!

As you can see there is plenty of room for more signs on the post. We figure there is room for a hundred or so if everyone uses the same size sign. We left a few with Betty for those who are caught in Betty's web to add there names as they pass through Abbeville.

We have done a lot more things including a couple that were new to us, but I wanted to get this post about the party on line. We'll cover more of our adventures here in Cajun country in the next couple of posts.

We really enjoy that area, so many good places to eat and things to see. We met up with Mona Liza and Steve in Florida this winter, very cool people.
